There is so much about this job that is creative, and I thrive on everything that allows me to bring ideas to life.
However, what stands out to me about this role is the community management aspect of the position.
Engaging with different people who love the same interests is rewarding as those communities grow and thrive.
I am fortunate to work with clients whom I can learn from but also cover topics I am very interested in. Working with a naturopath helps me learn and discover healthier ways to live. I am passionate about Ice hockey and skating and get to promote my local rink and National team, and unexpectedly working with financial advisers’ content has opened my eyes to different ways to be more accountable with my funds and planning.
Every opportunity brings lessons and growth. It’s essential to stop and see them when they arrive. It could be how you use a platform differently for each person, adapting with new information for personal branding, or discovering something new that you want to spend time exploring. Keep your eyes open.
A key factor to the success of managing so many social media accounts is the ability to compartmentalise the notifications and not give them any energy when you’re having some downtime and relaxing. Note them coming in, but make sure you hold off responding until the following day or when you’re working on that project.
While responding to any external engagement as fast as possible is crucial to increase reach and gain additional engagement, it is also ok to balance this with holding off to the morning for the sake of your mental health.
Overall, managing social media is incredibly fun and rewarding. There is variety in everyday challenges to creating engaging content and the thrill of seeing the audience’s reaction.
Since leaving school, I have explored many different industries and built up my skills. Starting my business in marketing has been the best life decision I have made, and I am having so much fun doing it all.
