As we continue in the series of balancing your life with your social media accounts, I’m focusing on how I keep myself organised to ensure I can work most effectively, stay consistent and reduce stress.
Here are some of my favourite ways to keep myself organised:
Social media management tools – There are several different types of tools available to help, including Meta, Later, and Buffer, to name a few that I use daily. These can help you streamline your content by scheduling in batches taking pressure off your day-to-day timeline.
Use a content calendar – Whether you create one from scratch or buy one online that suits your needs, a content calendar can help you plan out blocks of time and make the creation of your assets easier. Building a calendar of your posts, their theme, special events and campaigns will help you stay consistent and reduce stress.
Batch produce and schedule your content – The most significant advice I give anyone working with social media accounts is to plan content for a fortnight to a month in advance. By creating 2-4 weeks of content, making and scheduling it, the pressure is off the day-to-day requirements to get a piece of content out. Sometimes, extra things pop up to post in the moment while it’s happening, but if you have the rest of the time scheduled, there is one less thing to think and stress about.
Use a task management system – my personal preference is Asana. These management systems are a place where you can keep track of all the jobs you need to complete, their deadlines, and track their progress. When something new comes in, you can add it easily and ensure you don’t forget anything.
Create a clear filing system – As you build up your digital assets, file them clearly within folders on your computer and use a storage system like Google Drive and external hard drives to back up the files and have them available for easy access on request.
Being organised with your content will free up time to focus on other, more important things. Let me know what you do to stay organised.
